LEIGHANN PALMER GOLF OUTING
Our beautiful 3-1/2 year old daughter, LeighAnn, accidentally drowned on May 28, 1995. On Sunday, September 24, 1995, the first annual LeighAnn Palmer Scholarship Fund Golf Outing was held in her memory and it established two scholarship funds.
One is for a Senior cheerleader (LeighAnn loved cheerleading) at Bishop Luers High School to help pay for her tuition for college her Freshman year, and the other is for an 8th grade girl at St. Therese to help pay her tuition at Bishop Luers her 9th grade year.
Due to the success of our golf outings and valuable input from sponsors and golfers, we have established the LeighAnn Palmer Foundation, Inc. in addition to continuing to award scholarships, we are also going to make contributions to other worthy local causes each year.
This enables all involved in supporting this effort to see other programs in the area benefit in LeighAnn’s memory.
Since LeighAnn was only 3-1/2 years old when she died we would like to focus on helping the children in our community. This year the Board decided to donate the proceeds from the betting holes at the golf outing to: Phoenix Institute and SCAN. Additional donations to Erin’s House for Grieving Children, Samaritan Counseling Center, Camp Potawatami and Daybreak.
The Palmer family cannot begin to express their gratitude to everyone who has helped to make this golf outing such a success. One of our biggest fears when LeighAnn died was that people would forget her.
Because of the golf outing we know that LeighAnn will never be forgotten. Through the generosity our daughter continues to touch peoples lives. Thank you for keeping the memory and spirit of our little angel alive.
