FUN SUMMER EVENTS AT LITTLE RIVER WETLANDS PROJECT!
Little River Wetlands Project, a local nature organization protecting over 1000 acres of wetlands southwest of Fort Wayne, offers wonderful day and evening events this summer. All are free and open to the community.
Exciting Day and Evening Programs:
Saturday, June 21, 11- 3 pm — “3rd Annual Open House at Eagle Marsh”
See live raptors, tour the new Eagle Marsh Woods, enjoy fun children’s activities and more! Come to the Eagle Marsh barn on the south side of Engle Road 1/2 mile east of W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne.
Monday, July 28, 7- 8:30 pm – “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”
Gary Moughler, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, will discuss our local butterfly species, their habitat, and butterfly gardening. Emerald Ash Borer and Gypsy Moth concerns will also be addressed. Meet at the Aboite
Library, 5630 Coventry Lane, Fort Wayne.
Wednesday, August 20, 7- 8:30 pm – “Sedges have Edges, Rushes are Round….”
Join Tim Skiver, LRWP board member and Earth Source, Inc. Wetland Specialist, on a night hike at Eagle Marsh. We’ll learn how to identify sedges, rushes, grasses, and other wetland plants. Meet at the Eagle
Marsh barn on the south side of Engle Road 1/2 mile east of W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne.

Join us for the North American Butterfly Association’s July Butterfly Count. All levels of experience needed to help identify and count butterfly and caterpillar species found at Eagle Marsh. Records from all over North America will tell us how these beautiful creatures are faring. Meet at the Eagle Marsh barn on the south side of Engle Road 1/2 mile east of W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne.

Join us for the North American Butterfly Association’s August Butterfly Count. All levels of experience needed to help identify and count butterfly and caterpillar species found at Arrowhead Marsh. Records from all over North America will tell us how these beautiful creatures are faring. To reach Arrowhead Marsh, take Redding Drive off of W. Jefferson to Aboite Road, turn left and the preserve is just past the barn on the left.
Breakfast on the Marsh: 8 -10 am, second Thursday of every month
Well seasoned nature lovers (50+), join us for breakfast, a nature presentation, and an optional walk at Eagle Marsh. We meet at Coventry Meadows Senior Community on W.
