GET READY FOR WEAR RED DAY!
One day a year red takes over as the most fashionable color in Fort Wayne in which to be seen! That day is the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women “Wear Red Day.”
On Friday, February 1, show your support of the Go Red For Women movement, a nationwide movement that celebrates the energy, passion and power women have to band together and wipe out heart disease, by wearing red! One in three women has cardiovascular disease, and every minute one woman dies as a result of this health threat.
Thanks to the participation of millions of people across the country, the color red and the red dress have become linked with creating awareness of heart disease in women.
More than 10,000 companies participate in Wear Red Day, and many cities across the nation illuminate monuments, landmarks and major buildings in red to show their support in the fight against heart disease.
The American Heart Association and Lutheran Hospital are encouraging Fort Wayne companies, organizations, groups and individuals to join others across the nation and participate in Wear Red Day to build awareness and take action against women’s Number 1 killer – heart disease.
Some companies and buildings in Fort Wayne supporting efforts to Go Red in February include Lutheran Hospital, Do it Best Corp, Brighton Collectibles and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
“Lutheran Hospital supports the Go Red For Women movement and encourages local businesses and individuals to join the fight against heart disease in women,” said Joe Dorko, President and CEO of Lutheran Hospital. “I want to encourage all business leaders to participate in Wear Red Day on Friday, February 1, and ask your employees to do the same. Doing so sends the message that you want to help save the hearts of women who mean so much to us.”
