SMOKE ON THE WIND
FREEDOM
by Dancing Feather
How can one person say to another
How they are to pray?
I believe in the Great Spirit
And I seek only to do His good.
I stand on mother earth, raise my arms over my head.
Praying in all directions, north, east, south and west,
before I put my arms down to rest.
This is my church. I saw some new buds and sprouts of life today
And was given a new feather to hold when I pray.
I will continue to give to all of God’s creatures
And to my fellow man.
I’m Indian.
I love you and hope you can now look at me
And start to understand
We are all of the same Father
And of the same land.
I will pray for you
And you pray for me.
I will see you in paradise.
Just you wait and see.
