JAMES LOUIS GIANT, 76
JAMES LOUIS GIANT, 76, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Born March 31, 1931, in Tillman, Indiana, he was the son of the late Joseph A. Giant and Cloe Myers. He retired from Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne after 42 years, in 1997. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Korean War veteran; member of St. Therese Catholic Church; life member of Knights of Columbus; and the 1948 Monroeville Cubs Basketball Team.
He enjoyed his Catholic faith and family; he was also an avid Notre Dame fan; and loved his cards, golf and traveling.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Beverly A. Giant of Fort Wayne; daughters, Karen (Steve) Leffers of Fort Wayne, Kathy (Dale) Freiburger of Markle, and Kellie (James J.) Steel of Fort Wayne; sons, Kirk (Kris) Giant and Kent (Wendy) Giant, both of Fort Wayne; sisters, Maybelle (Jim) Ryan of Sarasota, Florida and Marcy (Tom) Sorg of Fort Wayne; 13 grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Krista and Corey Leffers, Brett, Blake, Brady and Madeline Freiburger, Kelsey, Kendra and Katie Giant, Drew and Brittney Giant; and two great-grandchildren, Bryson and Stevan Leffers.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Carlton, Randolph and Joseph J. Giant.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, August 13, 2007 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation. Visitation was also Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, with Rosary service also on Sunday.
Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
