This year the Waynedale Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, May 28th. Line-up prior to the parade will be at Waynedale United Methodist Church (Church Street & Old Trail). The parade will start at 9:00am and those wishing to be in the parade should be at the WUMC parking lot at 8:00am.

Parade sponsors are the American Legion Post 241, VFW Post 1421, and AmVets Post 33. Post 241 Commander Tom Mallott has already had organizational meetings and the scheduling progress continues.

Last year’s parade was a record year for attendance, so get your spot early.

The parade ends at Prairie Grove Cemetery. There will be a military ceremony at Prairie Grove Cemetery, which will include placing of the wreath, Taps and National Anthem by Elmhurst High School Band, Dove Release by Whispering Wings and Post Everlasting-a listing of this year’s deceased members from various area Posts.

The Waynedale Memorial Day Parade is sponsored by the local Veteran Posts and is in recognition of our veterans and the contributions they have made to our Country and the continued benefits they provide to our community. This is a great time to come out and show your community spirit and patriotism. Bring your flag and wear your red, white, and blue.
