AZELENE S. DOWNING, 86
AZELENE S. DOWNING, 86, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Lutheran Hospital. Born August, 3, 1920, in Elizabethton, Tennessee, she was a LPN and had previously worked as a clerk at Wolf & Dessauer. She was a member of Elmhurst Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are her son, Ronald (Barbara) Downing of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, Mary Joanne Downing of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Phyllis Messamore and Nadine Ringger; two brothers, Harold Garland and David Knopp; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie A. Downing, in 1992; son, Roger Downing; three brothers, Ralph, Leon and Gene Knopp; and one sister, Goldena Garland.
Funeral service was Saturday, March 12, 2007 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Entombment in Covington Memorial Gardens.
