ADVANCE AUTO PARTS
Advance Auto Parts held their ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, February 16, 2007. They are a leading aftermarket retailer of parts, batteries, accessories and maintenance items and this is their sixth store in Fort Wayne.
Bunny (Laisure) Vulgamott, a long time Waynedaler, is the store manager. She said, “My dad, Ralph Laisure, was one of the original volunteer firemen in Waynedale. I can remember the rides we used to get on the fire trucks in the 60s during Fire Safety Week.” Bunny has been in the auto parts business since 1978. Her 29 years of experience has brought her through a lot of a change. She said, “It used to be, find the catalog, look it up, and then double check and cross-reference everything. Now it is all done with computers.”
The new Advance Auto Parts in Waynedale offers customers several free services. Store Team Members will install windshield wipers for free, and also install batteries following a complimentary check of the vehicle’s electrical system and old battery. The store offers fast parts delivery to local commercial customers, such as professional mechanics and garages. Customers can also drop off used motor oil and batteries for recycling, insuring that these materials don’t end up in landfills where they could harm the environment. Free advice and instructions that help drivers complete their vehicle project…whether it’s a simple wash and wax or replacing spark plugs…are available in the store through Advance Auto Parts consumer education program.
Advance Auto Parts supports a variety of non-profit organizations at the corporate and local levels and encourages its Team Members to become actively involved in various community-based charitable organizations. Grand opening specials continue through the month of March.
