Fort Wayne Fire Department and International Association of Fire Fighters Local 124 were out Thursday through Saturday, August 24-26, with their “Fill the Boot” Campaign to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Last year, IAFF Local 124 led in both the State and Eighth District in the amount of money collected for MDA and has done so for the past nine years,” said Captain Randy Zion, Fort Wayne Fire Department Firefighter and IAFF Local 124 Chairman. “And this year on Thursday, the first day of Filling The Boot we collected $35,000,” said Chris Walker.

Zion laughs about the good-natured competition among fire departments throughout the state and the crews at these departments in collecting the money but reminds everyone that the money is going to help find treatment and cures for the 43 neuromuscular diseases MDA covers.
