LOCAL JR GOLDEN ACHIEVEMENT WINNER
Nancy Potchka, a teacher at St. Joseph/St. Elizabeth Ann Catholic School, was one of eight “Golden Achievers” recently recognized by Junior Achievement (JA) for her outstanding commitment to the business education partnership in northern Indiana. Potchka was honored with the prestigious JA Golden Achievement Award at the Organization’s annual Business Education Leadership (BEL) awards extravaganza. The event was held Thursday, May 25 2006 at the Grand Wayne Center in downtown Fort Wayne.
Potchka has been enthusiastically engaged with the JA experiential learning programs since 2002 and her sixth and seventh grade classes learn at Exchange City each year. When Lincoln Finance Park was introduced this year, Potchka knew she wanted her eighth grade students to experience this personal finance program. Potchka seems to have a true passion for teaching and she attempts to go beyond the curriculum to teach students using these real-life applications.
