SAVING $$$ ON VALENTINE’S DAY
We all know that the traditional flower arrangement sent out on Valentine’s Day is one dozen roses, or maybe half a dozen roses. We also know that the price of roses is a lot higher during the Valentine’s season so I would like to make a few suggestions to help you save some dollars.
Flowers come in all shapes and sizes, and colors, so my suggestion is to order a “Mixed Arrangement.” This is so much more colorful and the flower shop will have many “ready-to-go” bouquets in the cooler from which you can choose. These are not old bouquets but an anticipated amount of floral arrangements necessary to satisfy the needs of everyone who calls or walks in through the door. And the best part is the pricing.
While most rose arrangements will cost $70, $80, or even more, you will be able to get a mixed arrangement for only $30 or more. In fact you can simply name your price and the florist will have flowers to fit your budget. For slightly more money you can have roses added to the mixed bouquet. Of course other items can be added too such as balloons, candy or a stuffed animal.
Do not get caught up in the trap that the only thing to buy for Valentine’s Day is roses. Save money with a few more flowering suggestions such as blooming plants and planters. Planters are a combination of tropical green, foliage plants in a somewhat decorative container, either wicker or ceramic, and again, made colorful with the addition of a few cut flowers.
Valentine’s Day is on a Tuesday this year, February 14th, but you can get more for your money simply by having them delivered to the office on Monday, February 13th. This way they can be enjoyed all week and by the end of the week you could toss the flowers and take the container home. Another way to make life simple.
