HAYHURST CAMPAIGN TAPPING DOCTORS
WASHINGTON – Fort Wayne’s medical community forms the backbone of Tom Hayhurst’s donor list, with doctors, dentists, their spouses and employees contributing $12,900 of the $40,980 he raised in the past three months.
Hayhurst, a retired physician and City Council member, hopes to be the Democrat who runs against Rep. Mark Souder, R-3rd, in the fall. Hayhurst slowed in his four-quarter fund-raising compared with the amount he raised in the summer, when he posted $63,893.
Hayhurst has $87,649 in the bank. Souder reported $44,339 on hand September 30. His year-end report covering the past three months is not due until the end of the month.
Other candidates for the Democratic nomination – Kevin Boyd, a pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church, and Edward Smith – have not yet filed their reports.
Hayhurst reported he received no contributions from political action committees. Individuals may contribute up to $2,100 for the primary election and $2,100 for the fall campaign.
Hayhurst received $2,000 apiece from retiree Ian Rolland and Columbia City dentist James S. Lawrence; $1,700 from Dr. Subhash Reddy; and $1,000 apiece from Kent L. Hagerman, an investment manager, retiree Ruth Rhinehart, Dr. Dan Tritch, architect John H. Shoaff and Larry Rowland, of NxtStar Ventures.
He received $750 from attorney Wayne Walston of Leesburg and $500 apiece from Dr. Seema Apuri; Jennifer Cast of Seattle; Dr. Fen-Lei Chang; Dr. Charles S Giffin; homemaker Leta Gilbert; Ray Gilbert, owner of Gilbert Macros & Mergers; attorney Daniel Graly; Edith Kenna, a therapist at Park Center; Dr. Anurradha Kollipara; Dr. Praveen Kollipara; attorney Charles McNagny; Dr. H.N. Ramaprakash; Kathy S. Roby, owner of Skin Solutions; attorney Stephen P Rothbert; Barry Sturges, business manager of Sturges Griffin Trent Inc.; and Dr. John R. Thomas. He received $450 from Dr. Binoy Ouseph, and $350 from retiree G. Irving Latz II.

Hayhurst received no money from other politicians’ election accounts. He reported spending $6,000 on polling but otherwise has spent little on the campaign.
From July 1 to September 30, the period covered by the report, he raised $63,893 and spent $6,640.
