AUDREY ELLEN CRAIG, 73

AUDREY ELLEN CRAIG, 73, departed this life on Tuesday, June 7, 2005, with her family present. Born in Fort Wayne to Ralph and Alfreda Sutton, she was an excellent student and excelled in mathematics. After her marriage in 1949, she was a homemaker, also working at Capehart-Farnsworth, B.P.O.E. on Hillegas Road and the Tokeim Corporation. When not working outside her home, she took in sewing and ironing to supplement the family income.

She was active in the PTA at L.C. Ward and Unity Lutheran School, as well as, a den mother in Cub Scouts and troop leader in Brownies. She earned a degree in the culinary arts from Northern Kentucky Vocational College in 1985. In her retirement, she enjoyed working with R.S.V.P. of Dekalb County, receiving their Volunteer of the Year award in 1992. She was active in the Navistar retirees’ Club and traveled often with friends.

She leaves behind three sons, Kevin C. Craig and Edward M. Craig, both of Fort Wayne, Terrence (Mary Jo) Craig of Plymouth; five daughters, Michelle R. Craig, Erin (Wade) Smith, Kelly (Chuck) Warran and Laura E. Craig, all of Fort Wayne and Holly (Rick) Griffith of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by three loving sisters, Marilyn (Dean) Slagel Of Fort Wayne, Carolyn Sutton of New Haven and Shirley (Bud) Armstrong of Auburn; a brother, Stephen Sutton of Downy, California; stepmother, Edna Sutton of Fort Wayne; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; cousins; nieces; and nephews. Her many blessings included dear caregivers, Lori, Dick and hospice nurse, Marsha Bray.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralston (Morgy); a son, Ralston; brother; David; and her parents.

Service was Monday, June 13, at Peace Lutheran Church, 4900 Fairfield Ave., with calling one hour prior to service. Calling was Sunday, June 12, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road.
