LOIS E. (SHEPHERD) HEADINGS, 83
LOIS E. (SHEPHERD) HEADINGS, 83, died Saturday, January 29, 2005, at University Park Nursing Center. Born July 21, 1921, in Bluffton, she had been a resident of Fort Wayne since 1964. A veteran of World War II, she served as a Lieutenant J.G. in the U.S. Navy until 1946. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Chicago and M.A. in Speech and Theater and M.A. in History from Indiana University. She retired in 1992, as a teacher and writer; she taught at Fort Wayne Community Schools and I.P.F.W., was a book columnist for Business Horizons and was the Publications Editor for the I.U. School of Business. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fort Wayne/Allen County Historical Society, Fortnightly Club, International Affairs Forum, Indiana Historical Society, African-American Historical Society of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, ArtLink and the Indiana Association of Historians.
She is survived by her son, Brian K. (Julie) Headings of Fort Wayne; and granddaughter and step-grandchildren, Amy Headings, Jessie Beutel and Joe Beutel, all of Fort Wayne.
Memorial service was Sunday, February 20 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St. Private burial in Elm Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.
