ROLAND DWIGHT “R.D.” HILLE, 83

ROLAND DWIGHT “R.D.” HILLE, 83, of Fort Wayne, died Monday, December 27, 2004, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born on October 17, 1921, in Fort Wayne. His career started as a Draftsman at International Harvester Co., later becoming a Tool & Die Designer at Myer Tool. After the War he resumed his tool designing career at Wayne Pump, later becoming a Method & Plant Manager. He was a Salesman for Material Handling Equipment, later becoming the Sales Manager which he continued at Kimball Sales. He was a member of Waynedale Masonic Lodge, Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, Legion of Honor, V.F.W. 9500, Allen County Geneology Society, Allen County Historical Society, Fort Wayne Aviation Museum and was Past President of Reserve Officer Association. During World War II he served as a Glider Pilot, in England and France. He joined the 9601st U.S.A.R.S. Guard stationed at Baer Field, becoming the Administration Officer, later Flight Officer and retired as a Lt. Col. after 32 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Connie V. Hille of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Cindy Hille and Gina (Paul) Refakis, both of Fort Wayne; one brother, Dale Hille of New Liberty; and one granddaughter, Morgan Refakis of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul H. and Beatrice I. (Baker) Hille; two brothers, Preston and Glenn Hille; and one sister, Shirl Hardin.

Funeral service was Friday, December 31, at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Burial at Prairie Grove Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
