WAYNEDALE COMMUNITY PICNIC ENJOYED BY ALL

Last year our first Annual Picnic was a great success and another was planned for this year on August 28, 2004.

The day came, the weather cleared up, and over thirty volunteers showed up to help out. We set up tents, tables, chairs, and laid out areas for the children’s games. This year we added a bubble station sponsored by Mount Calvary Pre-School, bowling by Village Bowl, balloons by Tower Bank and hockey by Fort Wayne Komets. Lucky Lewie out did himself with the balloon animals!

The younger children were able to take part in several games and win many prizes. All prizes were donated by sponsors. The children enjoyed face painting, tattoos and painting ceramic tiles provided by Doni Adams of Art Source. They had fun in the Moonwalk and watching the magician, Andy Haines.

Many other volunteers set up the picnic food in the main building. Everyone enjoyed pizza, hot dogs, nachos with cheese, veggies, chips, cookies (by Archway and Subway), ice cream (by Atz), frozen bars (by Edy’s) and cakes from the Waynedale Bakery. This year, we added a cotton candy machine, which was a big hit.

Thanks to the businesses, and‑volunteers of the Waynedale Community Picnic for their great support. You are wonderful! Your donations made this event possible. If you were not there, you should have been. You missed out on a big time! We had a fantastic picnic on the green. We estimated 900+ guests.

Fire Department, Ambulance Crew and Police Department showed up to help out.‑ Shawn Wall brought his racecar, which the kids of all ages loved. Ace Hardware, Coe Heating and Peter’s Body Shop advertised on their marquees and there were many lawn signs placed in our neighbor’s yards.
