Principal Trudy Grafton prepares for the new school year with hopes of creating an intrinsic motivation to succeed through positive peer pressure in the students.
Trudy Grafton began her career as a bus driver for Head Start. She served as principal in Blanchard, Michigan before joining FWCS in 2002 as assistant principal at Harrison Hill Elementary. Her Bachelor’s degree is from Defiance College with two Master’s degrees from the University of Toledo.

Mrs. Grafton took some time August 23, during the first day of school, to mention some of their goals during the coming year. “Our theme is: We Are Family, and all of us are working together to provide a quality education at Study Elementary.” She had just received a shipment of trophies and explained that they would be presented to students throughout the year for things like perfect attendance, academic achievement, and proper behavior in school and on the bus. The new motivational program is called “3-2-1 Soar”.

Study Elementary School, was named after Justin N. Study who was the principal of Fort Wayne High School (Central) 1902-1903. Over the years Study has been renovated and added to several times.

Mrs. Grafton wanted to take this opportunity to tell everyone about the upcoming Back to School Night, September 2, 6-8pm, featuring the Study Family Hot Dog Supper & Flower Show.

Starting October 19 Study Elementary will be doing a Neighborhood Literacy Site. Principal Grafton said, “We need two more volunteers to help tutor one hour a week. We are here to support the families of our community as well as our students. Call us at 425-7468 if you would like to volunteer.”
