IDAH E. BRIEGEL, 76

IDAH E. BRIEGEL, 76, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, August 5, 2004, at Lutheran Hospital. Born February 5, 1928, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Novella B. (Briner) Sanders. She worked in the office of Essex Wire for 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was a charter member of the Indiana Women’s Athletic Hall of Fame in Indianapolis.

Survivors include sons, Jack Briegel of Knoxville, TN, William Briegel of Fort Wayne; daughter, Dianne VanPelt of Fort Wayne; brother, Leland Sanders of North Manchester; sister, Mary Louise Peters, of Las Vegas; six grandchildren, Ian VanPelt, Tristan VanPelt, John Briegel, Samantha Briegel, Cameron VanPelt and Eric Briegel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold E. Briegel; brothers, Arnold, Donald, George and Kenneth Sanders; sisters, Kate Briegel, Dorothy Winegartner and Delores Sanders.

Service was Monday, August 9, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with Alan Meneely officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Garden.

Preferred memorials to Cancer Services of Allen County or the SPCA.
