ROBERT B. SCHROCK, 73

ROBERT B. SCHROCK, 73, died Tuesday, May 18 at home, 1101 Esplanade Court, Lebanon, Indiana. He was born in Wolcottville, Indiana, on March 27, 1931, the son of the late Ruben and Susan (Yoder) Schrock.

He spent his early years in Wolcottville and then served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He returned to reside in Fort Wayne, where he started his 42-year career with the Kroger Company. In addition he served as a volunteer firefighter in Fort Wayne.

He was formerly married to Barbara (Bowes). He was married in Whitestown, Indiana on March 27, 1982 to Patricia A. (White) Hine Schrock.

Mr. Schrock loved his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, sports and sporting events, and auto racing.

He served as a volunteer fireman April 1964 through September 1995. He worked as a truck driver for Kroger in Fort Wayne until he retired in 1995. He drove a school bus for the Lebanon Consolidated School System November 1997-November 2003 and was known by the students on Route 8 as “Bob the Bus Driver.”

He was a member of Whitestown United Methodist Church in Whitestown, Indiana. He was “Fireman of the Year” twice in Fort Wayne, received the Barney Kroger Award for Outstanding Community Service, the Kroger Safe Driver Awards for 25 consecutive years, a member of American Legion Post #410 in Whitestown (Past Commander 1999 & 2000), and a member of Sons of the American Legion Post #410 in Whitestown, VFW Post #910 in Lebanon (Jr. Vice Commander 2003-2004) Life Member of the VFW in Lebanon Post #910, and a Life Member of the VFW Post #1421 in Fort Wayne.

Funeral Services were held at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, on Saturday, May 22, with Pastor Tamyra Seaver officiating. Burial, following military rites was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Surviving are his, wife Mrs. Patricia A. Schrock, Lebanon, Indiana, 3 daughters, Mrs. Charlie (Dawn) Overman, Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Michael (Denise) Hinson, Thorntown, Indiana, and Mrs. Mark (Diana) Graham, Clay City, Indiana. One stepson, Mr. Ed Hine and wife, Terri, Zionsville, Indiana, 2 stepdaughters, Mrs. Mark (Cheryil) McAtee, Lebanon, Indiana, and Mrs. Mike (Lori) Bear – Brazil, Indiana. 4 brothers, Mr. Elmer Schrock and wife Virginia, Fort Wayne, Mr. Bill Schrock and wife Joan, Kendallville, and Mr. Paul Schrock and wife Ruth, Fort Wayne, Mr. Clayton Schrock and wife Marge, Leo, one sister Ms. Ruth Gappinger, LaGrange, one brother-in-law: Mr. Wayne Miller and wife Judy, LaGrange, 13 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter Kelly McAtee, 4 brothers David Schrock, Levi Schrock, Don Schrock, and Albert Schrock, and 2 sisters, Betty Miller and Frances Beck.
