Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Mary T. Anderson, daughter of Martha J. Anderson of Fort Wayne, IN, is currently in the middle of a routine, scheduled deployment to the Mediterranean Sea while assigned to the guided missile destroyer USS Cole, homeported in Norfolk, VA.
Anderson’s ship is part of the USS Enterprise Carrier Strike Group, deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The primary mission of Anderson’s ship is to provide multi-mission offensive and defensive capabilities. USS Cole is capable of operating independently or as part of a carrier strike group. Its flexibility provides presence with a purpose and strike power to support joint and allied forces afloat and ashore.
Anderson is a 1988 graduate of Elmhurst High School of Fort Wayne, IN, and joined the Navy in June 1988.
SFC Steven W. Kingsley is a member of the 190th Quartermaster BN out of South Bend, Indiana. He has been in the service for over 16 yrs. He currently is the Truckmaster for the 1538th Transportation Company out of Elkhart, Indiana. He is the son of James and Milderd Kingsley of Auburn. He has lived in Waynedale for 15 years. He is being deployed in June for Afghanistan to support OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.
