Editors Note: The Waynedale News receives an abundance of press releases and articles for each issue.  Information that has a focus on Waynedale, enlightens, or educates and that are most needed by our community are given the highest priority.  We would like you to e-mail your information as an attachment in a word document. Who-What-When-Where-Why format, with a brief description of the event is preferred. We also accept submissions by regular mail and/or FAX.   We try to evaluate all submissions on a timely basis. THE CONTINUING RELEVANCE OF THE CIVIL WAR

Who: John Auld

Why: A continuing adult education program, free and open to the public.

What: Will speak on “ how the Civil War continues to live on today, affecting the issues of race and regionalism.

PLANT SALE

Who: Master Gardeners and Landscapers

Where: Allen County Extension Office, 4001 Crescent Ave.

When: May 22nd, 1-4pm

Plants to be offered for sale include daylilies, hostas, painted ferns, hydrangeas, vegetables, and houseplants.

 

ANNUAL SPRING FLOWER SALE

Who: St Therese Music Department

What: Hanging Baskets, Bedding Flats, Potted Plants, and Geranium Trees

People may purchase coupons at the school office.  Coupons can be redeemed at Broadview Greenhouse any time from May 8th through Memorial Day

 

BASEBALL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

Who: Northeast Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame will induct Daisy Briggs, Matt Kinzer, Olan Smith and Tom Zahn

When: Saturday, May 22nd, 6:30pm

Where: Dean Kruse, WWII Museum, Auburn, Indiana

Master of Ceremonies will be Sports director Kent Horman, and Keynote speaker will be Saint Louis Browns 20-game winner Ned Garver.  Deadline to purchase tickets will be May 17th.  Call 744-5636 for more information.

 

BLOOD DRIVE

When: May 24, 3-7pm

Who: Sponsored by the Red Cross

Where: Calvary United Methodist Church, 6301 Winchester Road

Why: To help Ben Ehrsam, a member of Boy Scout Troop 38, complete a community project, in a quest for his Eagle Scout award.  For reservations call Ben at 485-3728, walk-ins welcome.
