This year’s Waynedale Memorial Day Parade, is scheduled for Monday, May 31st. The parade route will begin at the Waynedale United Methodist Church, 2501 Church Street, and end at Prairie Grove Cemetery at the north end of Old Trail Road. As always, a ceremony will be held at the cemetery honoring all veterans.
After the Prairie Grove Ceremony, a Memorial Day Celebration will take place at the Southwest Conservation Club, which is just across Bluffton Road. The Waynedale News is planning on giving away fishing poles again this year, and a fishing contest is tentatively scheduled at one of the SWCC ponds. Events are still in the planning stages. Sponsors include American Legion Post #241, VFW #1421, Eagles FOE #248, and AmVets Post #33. Parade meetings are being chaired by American Legion Post #241 Commander Charlie Rathsack.
