BASKET WEAVING—A HISTORIC HAND ART

Who: Settlers, Inc. will present “Basket Weaving—A Historic Hand Art”

When: Thursday, March 11 at 9 am

Where: Swinney Homestead, 1424 W. Jefferson Blvd.

What: A display of woven reed baskets, and refreshments, will precede “hands-on” instruction to create a flat, wood-bottom breadbasket.

Fee: $10-Settler/$12-non member.

15th ANNIVERSARY GOSPEL CONCERT

Who: The Northmen

UPWARD SOCCER

Who: Any child pre-K (entering in fall of 2004) through 8th grade boys and girls.  Pre K and Kindergarten are coed; all others are separate boys and girls leagues.

What: Evaluations and registrations will take place for approximately 15 minutes during any of the scheduled times (evaluations are required)

FREE PERSONAL TAX COUNSELING AND PREPARATION

AARP Tax-Aide Program for the 2004 tax season will provide free personal income tax counseling and tax form preparation to middle and low-income tax payers, with special attention to those 60 and older.

Those seeking tax assistance should bring their last tax return, real estate tax paid receipt, and all 2003 tax forms W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, 1099-INT, 1099B, 1099-MISC, SSA-1099, and RRB-1099’s with them.

AMERICAN RED CROSS IN NEED OF DISASTER VOLUNTEERS

Who: The American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana

What: Immediate need for volunteers for the Single Family Disaster Team in Allen County

The Single Family Disaster Team is responsible for assisting families forced from their homes by disasters such as fires, floods or winter storms. The Single Family Disaster team works with families to meet their immediate needs such as food, clothing and shelter.

Disaster Team members are on-call a minimum of one week every other month.  All disaster training is offered at no cost, and books and supplies are provided. ELMHURST LITTLE LEAGUE SIGNUPS

Elmhurst Little League will have baseball and girl’s softball signups on Saturday, 28th, from 9:00am to 2:00pm at the Southwest Fire District Station, 7100 Old Trail Road.  Please bring a copy of the player’s birth certificate and proof of residency (utility bill, driver’s license).  Elmhurst Little League offers baseball and softball programs for girls and boys age 5-18.  Registration fees: T-ball (age 5-6) $25; Prep (age 6-8) $80; Minor (age 8-12) $80; Major (age 9-12) $80; Junior (age13-14) $80; Senior (age 15-16) $80; any Big League (age 17-18) will be referred to District 10 for team information.  Fundraiser information and product will also be distributed at registration.  Questions?  Call Pat Lee 672-8099 or Julie Crouch 747-2921.

For registration fees there is a $120 limit for a 2-player family and a $140 limit for a 3+ player family.  Senior League registration fee is $100 (no fundraiser for this league).  Fees are payable at registration.
