IRENE E. SLATER, 89

October 15, 2003 The Waynedale News Staff

Irene E. Slater, 89, died Saturday, September 2, 2003 at Lutheran Home. The Ossian native was a homemaker and a member of Grace St. John’s United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence E. “Porky” Slater, who passed away in 1980 and by her grandson Lucas Lobdell.

Survivors include daughters & sons-in-law Joanne & Jim Lantz of New Haven; Jane & Steve Shoppell of Fort Wayne; Sue & Dan Conner of Monroe, North Carolina; Grandchildren Jason (& Keri) Lantz; Josh Lantz; Chris (& Myra) Evans; Amy (& Denny) Castleman; Mac Lobdell; Danielle Conner and eight great-grandchildren, brother Ralph Simerman of Decatur and sister Elizabeth Dull of Fort Wayne.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes. Entombment in Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials to Grace St. John’s United Church of Christ or Heartland Hospice.
