VINING ACCEPTED AS MILITARY TRAINING INSTRUCTOR

SSgt Anthony G Vining of the 122nd Communications Flight, Indiana Air National Guard, has recently completed Computer Operations Technical School at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi.

The twelve week school included training in Computer and Network Security; Computer Network Operations, UNIX Administration, Windows NT Workstation and Server Administration, and Inter/Intranetwork Operations.

Vining joined the Air Force Reserves in 1989, and has been a member of the 122nd Communications Flight since 1994. ‑He transferred from the Computer Planning and Implementation section into Computer Operations in June of 2001; and was activated in support of Operation Noble Eagle in September of that year.

In addition, SSgt Vining has been accepted into the Military Training Instructor School at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. ‑Vining will be reporting to Lackland in September to begin that training, and after completion will be assigned to Lackland for 4 years as an instructor in the Basic Military Training School. ‑Military Training Instructors, or MTI’s, are the Air Force’s elite men and women hand-picked by the Superintendent of the Basic Training School; Vining met with the Superintendent, CMSgt Billy Blackburn in June.

Vining, who resides in Fort Wayne, is the son of Paul and Patricia Vining of Roanoke. ‑Vining is a member of the American Legion Post #160, Sons of the American Legion Squadron #160, and AmVets Post #33.
