Recognizing Alumni In The Military
Wayne High School wishes to recognize WHS alumni, which are presently serving in the military. WHS request that readers send a short letter to Air Force Junior ROTC at WHS if they are aware of anyone who is presently serving in the military, any branch, and at any location. The letter should provide as much information as possible about the service person’s full name and address. A picture and short biography would be very helpful. TUFWC Announces Book Sale
The S.A. Lehman Memorial Library, TUFWC will hold a book sale, April 23-25 from 11am to 9pm daily at the library, located at 919 West Rudisill Blvd. Books for many subject areas and interests will be offered for sale to benefit the library. TUFWC hosts a Community Literacy Fair, Saturday, April 12, 2003 from 11am to 1pm at the Euell A. Wilson Center, 1512 Oxford Street. This exciting event, sponsored by Indiana Reading Corps and Taylor University, will feature a wide range of activities designed to encourage students in grades K-6 to seek a broader world through reading. UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS
Travel to Mexico With USF Dan Strayer, Spanish Professor at USF, is planning a two-week trip to Cuenavaca, Mexico, for students and the general public. The group will depart Friday, May 9, 2003 from Fort Wayne and return on Friday, May 23. The cost of the trip is approximately $1,200, and includes airfare, two weeks of Spanish language training, meals, and lodging with a host family. Several side trips are planned, including travel to Mexico City. Participants also have the chance to earn college credit in Spanish equivalent to an entire semester of instruction. TO SPEAK AT USF COMMENCEMENT
USF has announced that the university’s commencement ceremonies will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at 2:30pm at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Dr. Carolyn Y. Woo, Martin J. Gillen Dean, and Ray and Milann Siegfried Professor of Management, Mendoza college of Business of the University of Notre Dame, will be the commencement speaker. Rev, Rebecca Farrell Nickel, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, will offer the invocation. Honorary degrees will be given to Dr. Woo and Fort Wayne natives David and Peter Turnley, internationally-recognized photojournalists. Elizabeth A. Rearick and Brooke D. Local Student PLEDGES PHI MU ALPHA
Jessee Evans of Fort Wayne recently pledged the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Kappa Sigma Chapter, at VU. Jessee, a freshman at VU, is majoring in music education in the College of Arts and Sciences. He is a 2002 graduate of Paul Harding High School and is the son of Laura Evans of Fort Wayne and Richard Evans of New Haven.

BLHS Dance Team Tryouts
BLHS will be having Dance Team tryouts for the 2003-2004 school year on April 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. If you are interested in trying out, please meet in the Bishop Luers Cafeteria from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Instructions will be given on April 21st and 22nd, with tryouts on the 23rd. Please wear shorts, T-Shirt, and Gym or Dance shoes. If you have a conflict or any questions, please call Brenda Price at Bishop Luers High School at 456-1261.
BLHS To Present their 2003 Annual Auction Fund Raiser “HIGHLAND KNIGHT”
HIGHLAND KNIGHT will be presented on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at BLHS. The evening features cocktails and hors d’oeuvres beginning at 5:30pm and followed by a dinner served at 6:30pm. Dinner will be prepared by Mr. Jeff Price of Hall’s Catering. A silent auction will be held throughout the evening with many exciting items including getaway weekends, Christmas collectibles, gardening items, camping gear, artwork, religious items, sports memorabilia, furniture, Vera Bradley items, gold and diamond jewelry, golf outings, Komet and Chicago Cub tickets and much more!!!! Honored guest Bishop John D’Arcy will host his own “Bishop’s Auction” to raise funds for student tuition. A cash raffle will be drawn that evening with prizes totaling $10,000.
