LOCAL DANA EXECUTIVE RECEIVES ANUTOMOTIVE HALL OF FAME AWARD
Fred D. Tucker, 35, director of Sales and Global Strategies – Torque and Traction Technologies Group for Dana Corporation is one of four winners of the Automotive Hall of Fame’s 2002 Young Leadership and Excellence Award. He was honored along with the three other inductees at a ceremony on October 15, 2002 in Dearborn, Michigan.
Mr. Tucker, an MBA student at USF who will complete his degree in May 2003, directs global sales and marketing strategy for operations outside the U.S. and manages global sales to transplant original equipment manufactured in North America as well as all United States’ export sales.
USF ART AND VISUAL COMMUNICATION DEPT. PRESENTS WATERCOLOR EXHIBITION
Rick Cartwright, Chair of the USF Art & Visual Communication Department has announced that a Watercolor Exhibition will be held from Saturday, November 9 through Saturday, December 1, 2002. The exhibit is in the Weatherhead Gallery in the Mimi and Ian Rolland Center off Leesburg Road on the east side of campus.
The show features works by Joe Anderson, Louise Cartwright, Jacqueline Gnott, Scott Kilmer, Lori Langenhop, and Maurice Papier. The opening for the exhibit is Saturday, November 9, from 7 to 9pm in the Weatherhead Gallery. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 3pm. The public is welcome. There is no admission charge.
USF PRESENTS AVANT-GARDE SHAKESPEARE
USF will present THE TAMING OF THE SHREW with a few new twists at 8pm on November 22 and 23, 2002 at 2pm on November 24, 2002. Using a style that will be fun for the performers and the audience, USF’s new Director of Theatre Arts and Music, Sue Nelson, will direct the play as a musical. It will have the original Shakespearean dialog partnered with avant-garde costuming reminiscent of the recent “Moulin Rouge.”
Performances will be in Gunderson Auditorium in the Achatz Hall of Science, entrance off Leesburg Road on the east side of campus. Tickets may be purchased at the door. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, USF students with school ID and persons under age 18.
HEALTH CAREERS OPEN HOUSE AT USF
USF Office of Admissions will hold a Health Careers Open House on Sunday, November 10, 2002 between 1pm and 4pm at the Doermer Center at the corner of Spring Street and Leesburg Road. USF offers degree programs in Emergency Medical Services, Medical Technology, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiologic Technology, and Surgical Technology and pre-professional studies in medicine, physical therapy, dentistry, pharmacy, and veterinary science. In addition, Associate of Science in Nursing, LPN to ASN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, RN Completion for registered nurses, Master of Science in Nursing, and Master of Science in Physician Assistant programs are available. Prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to talk with faculty, tour simulation labs, obtain financial aid information, and learn more about the many health care majors offered by USF. BISHOP LUERS HIGH SCHOOL
BLHS 9th Annual Scholarship Exam will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2002, from 8:30am to 12noon. No advanced registration is required. The test will be given in the school cafeteria with registration beginning at 8:15am. Students are asked to bring $6 to take the test and two #2 pencils. All 8th grade students are welcome to attend. The makeup date will be December 7, 2002 from 8:30am to 12noon. The test will also be used as a placement guide for freshman year. BLHS TO HOLD TURKEY TROT KNIGHT
BLHS annual “Turkey Trot Knight” will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2002 at 6:30pm at Columbia Street West. Tickets are $20 per person, which includes hors d’oeuvres, snacks, draft beer, soft drinks, and dancing to The Junkyard Band. Tickets can be purchased by calling Bishop Luers at 456-1261. Casual attire and Open to the public. All proceeds will benefit Luers Knight and Bishop Luers Athletics.

TUFWC TO PARTICIPATE IN SERVICE PROJECTS.
TUFWC seeks opportunities to serve the community: one such avenue to accomplish this purpose is through her 5th Annual Community Service Day set for Saturday, November 9, 2002 from 8am to 12noon. TUFWC students, faculty, staff and administration will participate in service projects to support community organizations, area neighborhood associations and worthwhile causes in Fort Wayne. Service teams from TUFWC, organized by academic departments, will consist of students, faculty and staff alike. Two hundred participants are expected to engage in the meaningful service and learning experience. At the conclusion of the service opportunities, project teams will return to campus for a celebration meal and program of sharing.
The following is a list of projects, organized by majors. Pastoral ministries, Christian education, youth ministries and intercultural studies majors conducting trash pick-up in major city thoroughfares. English, public relations, journalism and professional writing majors will work with A Friend’s House in Bluffton, Indiana. Criminal justice majors will provide assistance with site repair at Big Brothers and Big Sisters; psychology and social work majors will assist Youth for Christ. Education majors will clean and rake lawns at Harrison Hill and Irvin E. Elementaries and host a “reading fair” for children at Lutheran Hospital. Computer science majors will rake leaves at Stillwater Retreat; music and undeclared majors will rake leaves in several neighborhood associations. The morning of service will conclude with a celebration lunch held in Eicher Student Commons.

TUFWC will conduct its third autumn Campus Visitation Day on Friday, December 6, 2002. Each semester three Campus Visitation days, hosted by the TUFWC admissions staff, are offered for prospective students and their parents to experience the Taylor Tradition first-hand.
