EAGLES’ ROLF GOLDEN ARM CHAMP
Cooperstown Dreams Park, located in the Magical Mythical Home of Baseball, Cooperstown, NY, is the first and foremost youth baseball facility designed to have teams from all over the country to come and play baseball. Cooperstown Dreams Park has 14 professionally groomed and lighted fields situated on 110-acres, featuring baseball diamonds with grass infield enclosed by eight-foot stadium walls.
The Eagles was one of 64 teams that arrived at Cooperstown Dreams Park on Saturday, August 3rd, for Opening Ceremonies and Skills Competitions.
Rolf, a Waynedale resident, represented the Eagles in the Golden Arm competition, which measures throwing accuracy and distance. Participants threw to a target located behind home plate from center field, approximately 125 feet.
Rolf posted 7 points in the first round to advance to finals with four other competitors. Once there, he toppled his competitors with five points to clinch first place.
The Indiana Eagles are coached by Dave Bischoff. Dave is also the baseball coach for the New Haven High School team and a former IUPU baseball standout.
Golden Arm is one of four Skills Competitions at Cooperstown Dreams Park. King of Swat and Road Runner are also individual events, while Around the Horn Plus is a team contest. King of Swat is a home run derby and Road Runner measures speed around the bases.
Cooperstown Dreams Park invites independent travel and select teams with no sanction restrictions to play baseball as it was meant to be played. 64 teams are represented from states all over the country each week for 11 weeks to compete in 7 tournament-qualifying games and a single-elimination tournament. The first week is comprised of 10 and under teams, while weeks two through 11 are 12 and under.
Dubbed the Statue of Liberty of Youth Baseball, Cooperstown Dreams Park was inspired by Lou Presutti Sr., a native of Olean, NY, who felt that every kid who plays baseball should have the opportunity to play the game in its birthplace…Cooperstown.
