1979 CHEVROLET CAMARO TO BE GIVEN AWAY BY AUBURN CORD DUESENBERG MUSEUM
Winner of September 28th Drawing Takes Sport Coupe in “That Seventies Camaro” Raffle.
At the conclusion of the 2002 DeKalb County Free Fair, one lucky individual will be the winner of a 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Berlinetta Sport Coupe. The vintage Chevy will be given away in the “That Seventies Camaro” raffle, organized by the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum. The winning name will be drawn at 11pm, Saturday, September 28, 2002, on the DeKalb County Free Fall Fair entertainment stage in Auburn.
The two-door Camaro Model S-87 has a black exterior, dressed by gold pin striping, and a tan bucket-seat interior. At $5,400 new in 1979, it was powered by an optional V-8 engine of 350 cubic inches.
By 1979, Chevrolet had been marketing the Camaro for 12 years as “the new way to take your pulse.” Advertisements of the day said, “Ever since they first got together, Camaros and America’s roads have been close friends. Wherever you go you see the two of them, enjoying this land together. Road and road cars, meant for each other.”
Tickets are $5 each, or three tickets for $10, available from the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, 1600 South Wayne Street, Auburn, IN, (260) 925-1444.
The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum exhibits more than 100 vehicles in the 1930 art deco national headquarters of the Auburn Automobile Company. The museum, open daily, 9-5, all year, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is accredited by the American Association of Museums.
