FOREST AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP OFFERED
A workshop on improving forestland for wildlife is offered for woodland owners and others interested in Indiana’s environment from Sept. 26 – 29 at the Indiana FFA Leadership Center in Trafalgar, Indiana. The program is free and includes room and board at the FFA Center. “Many people believe that the management and harvest of timber products conflict with wildlife. However, properly planned timber management activities can improve habitats for wildlife while still meeting other land management objectives,” said Brian MacGowan, Purdue University Extension Service wildlife specialist.
Workshop attendees will learn about the ecology and management of songbirds, reptiles and amphibians, ruffed grouse, wild turkey, and other forest wildlife. They also will learn about Indiana’s forests and how they grow, how to use timber management as a tool to improve wildlife habitat, and how to teach others about forest management.
This workshop is the second annual training seminar for people interested in joining the Indiana Coverts Project, a cooperative effort of universities, government agencies, conservation organizations and private landowners to improve wildlife habitat through forest management practices.
A covert is a thicket providing cover for wildlife. Wildlife such as ruffed grouse, woodcock, and many forest songbirds depend upon these young forests. The Indiana Coverts Project is sponsored by Purdue Extension, the Ruffed Grouse Society and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. TIME TO BAN DOCTORS?

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but everyone has at least one doctor. Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand. Remember: Guns don’t kill people; doctors do.

All you do is enter in your area code (46819, 46809, or whatever) and it will bring up a list of your officials and how they voted on certain bills. If you are dissatisfied with a legislator’s voting record, you can write and e-mail to him or her by first clicking on the “Elected Officials” tab. Remember, If they are against guns they are against you. If you think that guns should be banned then follow these instructions. Have someone tie your hands behind your back, have them drive you downtown tonight, and then walk back home alone.
