Spring is here and many people are starting to work on their yards. One of the easiest ways to bring beauty to your yard is through landscaping and working with nature.

Steve Gerber is celebrating 15 years in the landscaping business. Steve’s Landscape Lawn & Equipment is located on State Road 124 in Bluffton. He has been in business since 1987 when the company started with Steve being the only worker.

Steve got his first taste of landscaping from his dad, Harry T. Gerber, of Gerber’s Lawn Service, Bluffton. In the evenings and on weekends Steve would mow lawns. His first job was at Hardees Restaurant in Bluffton.

Steve’s Landscaping began as a seasonal operation, concentrating primarily on landscaping and lawns. He started the business at his home east of Bluffton. In 1990 the company began to include the small engine business. In 1993 he bought the seeding business. Steve, along with his wife, Gayla (business manager) now manage 8 full time and 12 part time employees. Tad Baumgartner, Gayla’s brother, is manager.

In addition to design and installation of commercial and residential landscaping, which has always been the company’s primary business, they carry a distinctive selection of tools and products by Grasshopper, Echo, Lawn Boy, Toro, and Ariens. “We only offer products that we use ourselves, each one vigorously tested for performance and durability, and we guarantee our products to be of the best quality and value,” states Power Equipment Manager Tad. “We are the area’s only Grasshopper dealer providing the service and repair for these mowers.”

One can never have too many shade trees. This is a great place to choose one—from a beautiful flowering tree to those with large, full branches. And as you browse around you will also find mounds and mounds of mulch. New this season is the cedar mulch. They also carry cypress, hardwood, and 4-colors of dyed mulch.

“Pruning is an important part of keeping your landscaping plants attractive, healthy and productive, states Steve. “A few well-chosen tools are all you need to make this task easy and efficient”. Available at Steve’s are pruning shears, loppers, hedge cutters, pruning saws, pole pruners, string trimmers, and power blowers, and chainsaws by Echo.

Steve’s Landscape Lawn and Garden Equipment’s goal is to provide customers with the best service around. For this springs landscaping needs visit Steve’s from 7:30am-6pm Monday through Friday and on Saturdays from 7:30am-3pm, 3016 E. State Road #124 in Bluffton. Whether your lawn or garden is in need of mounds and mounds of mulch, a relaxing swing within a gazebo, or more shade, Steve’s can change your yard to a walk in the park.
