KOREAN WAR VETERANS ASSOCIATION NEWS
The monthly meeting of the KWVA, Indiana Chapter One will be held on April 13, 2002 at the American Legion Post 82 on Harris Road. Breakfast will be at 7:30am; the meeting will begin at 9am. Call Allen Clendenen (260-489-1724) for information about placing a brick on our walkway at our beautiful Shrine on O’Day Road, honoring a special Veteran. What a great tribute for Fathers Day.
You still have time to contact Jim Snyder (260-484-9255) before school is out to have our Veterans come to your child’s or grandchild’s school and present our Tele-America program. It is a wonderful program about the Korean War and why it is no longer the Forgotten War.

POST 241 GENERAL MEETINGS ARE 2ND Tuesdays at 7pm – All members should attend – it’s your Legion.

Tuesday Draft Beer Day – Sliders 5pm to 9pm
Wednesday – KARAOKE-7pm to 11pm – wings 6pm to 8:30pm (no carryouts)

Friday – Fish Fry 5pm to 8pm
Friday and Saturday – Dance bands at 9pm

The Ladies Auxiliary of David Parrish Post 296, l30 W. Tillman Road is collecting items to send to infantry members in Afghanistan. The Auxiliary will be collecting items through March. Anyone wishing to donate small items may do so, any day after 11am at the Post.
Post 296 Ladies Auxiliary will also host a self-defense and home safety seminar on April 27, 2002. This is self-defense for older people. Watch for further details in the coming weeks.

AMVETS POST 33 – IN MEMORY
Last month we lost a Cornerstone of our Post – Kash Sizemore, a Past Commander and present Trustee, active over the years at Post #33, Kash stood firm on the rights of the Veteran and devoted time and effort to shape Post #33 for it’s members to be proud when dues were due.
Ken E. Meek, past Legion #241 Commander, active in Veterans Organizations over the years, worthy friend of the Veteran, collector of history – they will be missed, but always remembered.
PROPOSED WAR VETERANS NATIONAL MEMORIAL AND CHAPEL
– MILITARY HISTORY MUSEUM –
Located at the Veterans National Memorial Shrine: 2122 O’Day Road – Fort Wayne, is now open to the public for the 2002 season. Admission is free, donations are appreciated. HOURS: Saturdays 11am to 4pm and Sundays 11am to 4pm. For further information of group tours or other inquiries, Please call (260) 625-4944 and leave a message.
HONOR AND RESPECT THE VETERAN. How do we give them the honor and respect that they have earned and is a right due them when our heavenly Father calls them home to stand the eternal watch? Each and every Veteran, whether they belong to a veterans organization or not, is due a military service (if they or their family so desire).
But whom do they ask? The funeral director is a good place to start. Or call an AMERICAN LEGION, VFW, or AMVETS Post. One of the Post Officers will be more than willing to give assistance.
So when the time comes, call a Veteran. It is our honor and ongoing duty to help provide the final honor and respect to our brothers and sisters.
