TUFWC ANNOUNCES RECORD ENROLLMENT

Spring semester enrollment at TUFWC is up 21 students over the spring 2001 semester. The numbers represent the tenth consecutive increase for spring enrollment, since Taylor University merged with Summit Christian College in 1992. Total spring enrollment is 506 up from 485 in spring 2001, which represents a 5% increase. Approximately 300 of these students are housed in one of Taylor’s five residence halls.

Much of the growth was the result of new commuter students attracted by Taylor’s low part-time tuition rate. “Our campus serves a diverse student body. Approximately 29% of our student body are over the age of 21 and live in the local community. We constantly strive to meet the unique needs of all students. We offer many classes in the evening to accommodate the unique needs of these students who may be balancing a full or part time career, family and civic responsibilities as well as academic pursuits,” says Leo Gonot, director of admissions. Of the 206 students who commute to campus 139 are taking 1-8 credit hours this semester and will enjoy a per credit hour rate of just $175. “Course offerings have also proven to be conducive to the schedules of area high school students as 30 have enrolled in Taylor’s Credits in Escrow program to earn college credit prior to high school graduation.” TUFWC is a Christian liberal arts institution located on the city’s historical south side.
