Fort Wayne Fire Department was the recipient of a check for $1300.00. Marty Jasper, manager of the Hideaway, located at 6807 Elzey, explained that the donations had been collected from local merchants and patrons during a Dec. 7th ‘Pearl Harbor Day Party’. Marty presented the check to Brad Springer, Station Captain with the proceeds to be distributed to the Firefighters of Station #5.

Station #5 has been located on Bluffton Road since 1958. The station is active 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Fifteen firefighters “man” the station, working rotating shifts, 24 hours on and forty-eight hours off.

“We wanted to do something at the local level,” said Marty. “Charity begins at home and we just wanted to show our appreciation for all that the firefighters do in our community.”
