LOCAL UNIVERSITY STUDENT TO EXHIBIT VETERAN PHOTOS AT MUSEUM
Jamie Buffington of Fort Wayne will have patriotic photographs on display in an exhibition that opened November 11 in the Brauer Museum of Art on the campus of Valparaiso University. The photos were taken by 13 students in the Photography II class taught by Aimee Tomasek, assistant professor of art. The “Where Were You During World War II” exhibit will be on display through January 6, 2002, in the museum’s Twentieth Century gallery.
Tomasek said the six-week documentary project paired students with local veterans of World War II as well as women who lived through the war and supported the war effort. Students were asked to photographically document their subjects as they talked about the war and how it still impacts their lives today. They are also keeping journals to record their experiences.
Buffington, a senior at VU, is majoring in elementary education in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is a 1998 graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School and is the daughter of David and Judy Buffington of Fort Wayne.
