JACK FENWICK STARK, 75
Jack Fenwick Stark, 75, died Wednesday, September 26th at Parkview Hospital. He was born in Indianapolis, IN May 2, 1926, but lived in Fort Wayne most of his life. He was a graduate of South Side High School, enlisted in U.S. Navy and in March 1944 was sent to the V-12 program at the University of Notre Dame. He transferred to USN-ROTC at Rice University, Houston, TX, where he received his commission as an Ensign, USNR, in May 1946. He served on active duty aboard USS PC-597 (Subchaser) in the Pacific, and the Panama Canal Zone. Upon release from active duty in Sept. of 1947, he went to Purdue University where he received a BSEE Degree in 1949.
Jack attended graduate school at the University Michigan in the summers of 1962 and 1968 and completed the Sloan program for senior executives at MIT in 1973. He was hired by I&M Elec. Co. (AEP) in June 1949 and served in various engineering and management positions until Dec. 1986 when he retired as Senior Vice President.
Jack married his high-school sweetheart, Mary Elaine Cocks, on July 6, 1946. They have five children, Howard, Douglas, Marie, Deborah, and Amy. All are married and provided Jack and Mary with eleven grandchildren.
Jack’s Civic activities included past director: Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce; Junior Achievement; American Mental Health Association; and the Fort Wayne Better Business Bureau Past Chairman of the Indian Electric Association and the American Red Cross. He was also past president of Associated Churches and The Fort Wayne Engineers Club; past Master Sol D. Bayless Lodge No. 359 F&AM; Eminent Commander Fort Wayne Commandery Knights Templar, and many other Ft. Wayne organizations.
Viewing was at the Klaehn Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 420 West Wayne Street Friday Sept 28th at, 2pm to 8pm. The funeral will be at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church on Sat., Sept 29 with viewing one hour prior to service, 9-10am.
