GERALDINE “JINNIE” VAN DER WAL, 59
GERALDINE “JINNIE” VAN DER WAL, 59, of Fort Wayne, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and Oma, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 27, 2004. She was taken by cancer that she had been battling since the beginning of 2004. Born May 23, 1945, the daughter of Willem and Tetje Bosch in Haarlem, the Netherlands, she immigrated to Sturgis, Michigan, in 1959, with her parents and brother. Jinnie grew up there before living in Springfield, Illinois, Fort Wayne and the Netherlands. She worked very hard raising two children and being a successful woman in the work force. She enjoyed using her free time to help friends, family and others in need through financial, emotional and physical support. She gave of herself unconditionally.
A truly vibrant woman who will be greatly missed by friends and family including her husband Cees van der Wal; mother, Tetje Duane; brother, Wim Bosch; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Gary Gruesbeck; son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Meredith Parnin. She was blessed to have three grandsons, Tanner Parnin, Caes Gruesbeck and Tate Parnin. She loved playing imagination games with Tanner, exploring the world with Caes, and reading to Tate. She enjoyed singing Dutch songs and teaching them all to say Oma and Opa.
Memorial service was Saturday, October 30, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. She will be laid to rest at Lindenwood Cemetery.
