MEMORIAL BRICKS

Make every day a “Memorial Day” by placing a brick of honor on the Korean War Veterans Association’s beautiful walkway. What a great way to honor your favorite Veteran for the holidays.

Who: Girl Scouts of Limberlost Council
What: To help adults know more about the many opportunities within Girl Scouting

Because adult mentors from all walks of life are vital to girls, volunteers do not have to be parents to be strong, successful mentors

ARCH HOLIDAY TOUR
What: Evening holiday tours of downtown Fort Wayne
When: Eve of St. Nick’s on Sunday, December 5, 4:30pm
Where: Meet at the History Center
Dress for the weather, tour length will be 1 1/2 –2 hours
Cost $5 adults, $2 children 13-18, 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult

HOLIDAY CRAFT SHOW
Who: Moeller Road Wesleyan Church
Where: 7722 Moeller Road
When: Saturday, December 4, 9am-3pm
What: Holiday Craft Show and Cookie Walk.
Thirty area crafters will be selling only hand-made items.

101 TREES OF INDIANA
Who: Acres Land Trust
What: Guest speaker Dr. Marion T. Jackson will give a program on Indiana trees

Where: Acres Wildwood Preserve, Kosciusko County.
From Fort Wayne, take SR 14 west of I-69 for 32 miles. From the intersection of state highways 14 & 13, it is about 4.6 miles west. From County Road 100E, it is about 0.6 mile west. Wildwood sign on south side of road.

GEOLOGY OF
KOKIWANEE
Who: Acres Land Trust
What: Two hour hike along the Salamonie River Gorge to explain the geology of the gorge
Where: Acres Kokiwanee Nature Preserve, Wabash County
Take US 24 to Lagro, turn south at Lagro (there is only one road that crosses the bridge) and turn onto Hanging Rock Road. Follow Hanging Rock Road around to the south, where it will turn into 500 E., continue on as 500 E. turns into 50 S. Kokiwanee Nature Preserve is located on 50 S.
When: Saturday, Dec 4-10am
Tony Fleming, Professional Geologist will lead the hike to explain the outcroppings , the origin of the gorge and the dramatic landscape. Hot cider and cocoa will be provided at the Mossy Heights Shelter after the hike.

When: The next scheduled collection will culminate on Saturday, December 18. Before this date you may be approached by a Boy Scout asking for contributions to help alleviate an existing shortage. Please be as generous as possible.

NEW HORIZONS BAND
What: Invitation for you to come blow your horn. If you do not have a horn but want to play one, they will help you.
Where: Crescent Avenue Methodist Church
Who: Directing the band is retired music instructor John Morse. Morse directed programs at Elmhurst HS. He also served as third French Horn with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic
The Fort Wayne band meets twice a week. The New Horizons band is open to any adult who wants to make music. If you’ve never played an instrument before but want to, New Horizons will teach you.
