WEST JEFFERSON TRAIL PROJECT
City of Fort Wayne received an award from the Indiana Partnership for Highway Quality for the recently completed West Jefferson Trail Project.
Greenway’s Manager Dawn Ritchie accepted the award on the City’s behalf at a ceremony at Purdue University in West Lafayette. Brooks Construction constructed the project, which was designed by Bonar Group. Both companies were recognized at the event.
The trail begins in Rockhill Park and connects with the Rivergreenway in Swinney Park. Landscaping features include several varieties of tree species and perennial plants. A limestone wall was constructed to identify Rockhill Park, and historical markers were installed to reflect back when the area was part of the Wabash and Erie canals.
“We are pleased to be recognized for the great work on this project,” said Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richard. “We are working together as a community to make our greenway and trail system a success. The new trail enhances the area surrounding Rockhill and Swinney parks and provides great recreational activities for residents to enjoy.”
