RICHARD D. HILL, 71
RICHARD D. HILL, 71, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, September 7, 2007, at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana. Born on November 26, 1935, in Paris, Tennessee, he retired as President of Hill’s Market. He served on the Board of Managers of Covington Creek Condominiums, and was a member of the Indiana University Varsity Club. He formerly was a member of the Air National Guard, honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1962. He was an avid golfer at the Elks, and had been a private pilot. He was also a Stephen Minister, and member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, and as church treasurer.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janis Carole (Roehm) Hill of Fort Wayne, whom he married on October 8, 1955, at Emmaus Lutheran Church; daughter, Roxanne L (Charles) Pratt of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Travis Martin Hill and Tabitha L. Hill, both of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Katharine “Katie” Pratt, Andrew C. Pratt, and Noah Lee Hill, all of Fort Wayne; great-grandson, Lucas Hill of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved, and they loved him.
He was preceded in death by son, Richard “Rick” Edward Hill, in 1998; infant son, John Martin Hill, in 1968; brother, Charles L. Hill, in 2004; and parents, Lee Martin and Zilpah Anna (Richardson) Hill.
Service was Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne, with visitation one-hour prior. Visitation was also Monday, September 10, 2007 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
