ELMHURST HIGH SCHOOL IS STAGING GOD’S FAVORITE

Neil Simon created a joke-filled play while maintaining the integrity of the setting from the Book of Job by turning suffering into awesomely funny. The Long Island mansion of a super-successful businessman, his jewelry-loving wife, a party-loving son, and a set of twins playing “ditto” are all met by a messenger from God testing our comic version of Job to renounce Him or suffer. Tests are extreme: the house burns, his wife threatens to leave him, his oldest son becomes a drunk, and the twins represent double nothing. Physical tests are next with itching, tennis elbow, neuralgia then,…well, worse.

Performance dates are Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3, 2007 on stage at Elmhurst at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available at the door for students at $5 and adults at $7. Director Rosy Ridenour. Technical director Don Goss.
