ST. THERESE CELEBRATES RED RIBBON WEEK
St. Therese celebrated National Drug Awareness Red Ribbon Week October 22 through October 26, 2007. Activities included “Sock it to Drugs Day”- wear the craziest socks you can find to school, a speaker from the Sheriff’s Office, “Hand in Hand, Let’s Take a Stand”- students traced their hand on a red piece of paper and displayed in the hall of the school, “Hugs Not Drugs Day”- students brought their favorite stuffed animal to school, a coloring page/ poster contest and, “Take a Stand-Be Drug Free”- students and staff stand in a circle and “free” red balloons.
Students received a red ribbon on Monday to wear all week. Names were drawn at lunch and prizes were awarded to the student if they were wearing their red ribbon. On Friday, the students signed their name on the back of their ribbon and they were all sent to Washington D.C., with a letter, as a symbol of unity and concern for others. The students and staff all enjoyed the week’s activities as a fun way to learn how to be drug free.
