COMCAST SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AWARDS $63,000
Sixty-three Indiana high school seniors are receiving a helping hand for college in the form of $1,000 scholarships from the Comcast Foundation. The 2008 Comcast Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program, one of the Comcast Foundation’s signature community investment programs, recognizes students who have demonstrated leadership skills, academic achievement, and a commitment to community service.
Fort Wayne area scholarship recipients include:
Katherine Ball, Tri-State University, South Side High School
Jeffrey Corajod, Hope College, Homestead High School
Samantha Crowell, Wellesley College, Wayne High School
Kevin Dawson, University of St. Francis, Northrop High School
Amy Fox, Huntington University, Snider High School
Carrie Halquist, Grace College, North Side High School
Janae Meyers, Purdue University, Bishop Luers High School
Joshua Pan, Princeton University, Canterbury High School
Alexandria Pollos, Huntington University, Woodlan Jr.-Sr. High School
Candi Witzigreuter, University of Indianapolis, Elmhurst High School
Brent Lederle, University of Indianapolis, Huntington North High School
“The cost of college continues to rise, so the Comcast Foundation is proud to present these young people with the Comcast Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship in recognition of their hard work, leadership and commitment to their communities,” said David L. Cohen, Comcast Executive Vice President and co-chairman of The Comcast Foundation. “These students represent our future leaders and they embody Comcast’s belief in giving back to the communities where we live and work.”
A commitment to community service is an essential component in the selection of winners of Comcast Leaders and Achievers® Scholarships. This year’s winners have participated in a wide variety of community service activities such as mentoring and tutoring younger students, volunteering at hospitals and participating in local blood, food, and clothing drives. Each year, Comcast works with high school principals, guidance counselors, and school administrators to select the scholarship recipients.

They deserve our recognition and support for the tremendous work they’re doing.”
