SUMMIT CITY OVAL PREPARES FOR RESURGENT 2015 RACING SEASON

Summit city trackAfter the purchase of the lease by new Promoter/General Manager, Dave Muzzillo, the 2015 schedule of events for Baer Field Speedway is complete and it’s action packed. The Fort Wayne Transmission ‘Hot 5’ weekly racing series divisions of AR Bodies Late Model Sportsman, Emma Warehouse Modifieds, Kings John Service Street Stocks, Afdent Dentistry Mini Stocks and Grote Automotive Compacts will kick off the 2015 racing season Saturday nights starting on April 11th.

The Fort Wayne Transmission ‘Hot 5’ weekly racing series divisions will take on the fast 3/8 (0.375) mile semi-banked paved oval during the regular season. A Test and Tune Practice Day, for all divisions who will race at the track in 2015, including traveling series classes, is slated for Saturday, April 4th with the Pit Gates opening at 10a.m., and Rotating Practice for all divisions going from 12-6p.m.

For the month of April special starting times are in place beginning with the Grand Reopening on Saturday, April 11th. Pit Gates open at 11a.m., Practice is at 12p.m., Qualifying at 2:30p.m., and Racing starts at 4p.m.
Starting on Saturday, May 2nd, normal starting times for the remainder of the season will see the Pit Gates opening at 2p.m., Practice begins at 4p.m., Qualifying is at 5:30p.m., with Racing getting the Green Flag at 7p.m.

The highlight of the 2015 schedule will see the return of the Outlaw bodied Super Late Models who will take on the fast 1/2 (0.500) mile semi-banked paved oval on Wednesday, July 15th in the running of the Hoosier 100. ARCA Gold Cup/Main Event Racing Series rules will apply for this event. In addition, the tracks weekly Modifieds will also be up on the 1/2 mile that evening in preparation for the return of the Top Speed ICAR Modified Tour on Saturday, August 1st. Also during the special midweek race, the weekly Mini Stocks and Compacts will also be in action on the adjoining 3/8 mile.

The fire-breathing, winged warriors of the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint Series invades the Summit City on Saturday, August 15th while the Vore’s Compact Touring Series will be the first tour to visit Fort Wayne on Saturday, April 25th in a special Vore’s VS Baer Field Compacts grudge match. The Late Model Sportsman and Modifieds will race in special ‘Double O’ races utilizing both the 1/2 mile and 3/8 mile together with the Modifieds going first on Saturday, May 2nd. The Late Model Sportsman will then try their hand at the Double ‘O’ on Saturday, May 30th.

In addition to the return of the Top Speed ICAR Modified Tour on Saturday, August 1, a Night of Destruction is also on the card for the same night for maximum destruction combined with the premier Modified Tour in the country. The Fourth of July will be celebrated with a full ‘Hot 5’ show as well as fireworks, the band Marshal Law performing during the Party After the Races. Plus there will be $.25 beer & FREE food in celebration of Independence Day.
