MCDONALD’S HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE MONTH
The Fort Wayne Mad Ants and McDonald’s have partnered to recognize two outstanding high school basketball players in the Fort Wayne community.
In January, McDonald’s and the Mad Ants selected JJ Foster and Courtney Smith as the McDonald’s High School Players of the Month. Both players will be recognized at an upcoming Mad Ants home game.
JJ Foster, a freshman at Bishop Luers, helped lead the Knights to 5-1 record in January. He is averaging just under 15 points per game, and nearly 4 assists per game, to lead a very talented Knights team. JJ’s best game of the month came in a win over Northrop where he tallied 19 points, 3 assists and 6 rebounds to lead his team.
Courtney Smith, a senior guard at Concordia Lutheran High School, has led her team to a 15-3 record, and a 5-0 record in January, which has earned them a #10 ranking in the state in the latest polls. Smith has been doing it all for the Cadets, averaging 16 points per game, nearly 3 assists per game and 3.4 rebounds per game. Her best game of the year came in a 71-65 win over Canterbury where she tallied 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead her team.
