LAWRENCE RICHARD “DICK” SCHWARTZ, 85
LAWRENCE RICHARD “DICK” SCHWARTZ, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Riverbend Health Care. He was born March 5, 1926 in Fort Wayne to the late James and Estella (Myer) Schwartz.
Mr. Schwartz retired from Phelps Dodge as superintendent of maintenance in 1985. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, American Legion #241, and the VFW after serving in the Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Schwartz of Fort Wayne; sons, Art (Peggy) Schwartz of Fort Wayne and Carl (Nancy) Schwartz of Columbia City; sister Martha Nitzche of Columbia City; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Hazel Schwartz in 1978; two sisters and a brother.
Funeral service was Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Dr., Fort Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior to services at church. Visitation was also on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 3 to 7 P.M. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke, IN.
Preferred memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or Cancer Services of NE Indiana.
