REV. JOHN FREDERIC RECKS, 75
REV. JOHN FREDERIC RECKS, 75, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. He was born September 29, 1935 in Wellston, Oklahoma to the late Ewald R. and Mildred M. (Walker) Recks. Rev. Recks served as pastor for The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He served many churches, including, First Lutheran Church, Natchez, Mississippi, from 1963 – 1970; Trinity Lutheran Church, Worden, Illinois, from 1970 – 1981; Zion Lutheran Church, Palmyra, Missouri from 1981 – 1988; and then continued in a pastoral role after retirement in Quincy, Illinois and Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and because of his love for music; he was involved in many groups, including Lutheran Men of Song, Bach Collegium, Quincy Symphony Chorus, and The Mark Twain Corral.
Surviving are his wife, Dorcas E. Recks of Fort Wayne, children, Paula (Rev. Barry) Akers of Kokomo, Natalie (Douglas) Reynolds of Fort Wayne and Stephen (Carin) Recks of St. Louis, Missouri; siblings, Miriam Moorman of Austin, Texas, Elizabeth (Joey) Trevino of New Braunfels, Texas, Timothy (Melissa) Recks of Riviera Beach, Florida, James (Susan) Recks of Waco, Texas, and Deborah (Sean) McCormick of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin, Caleb, Zachary, Jennifer, Micah, Aaron, and Kajsa; and stepmother Moonyean Recks of Austin, Texas.
Funeral service was on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Dr., Fort Wayne, IN with calling from 2 P.M. until the service. Calling was also on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the church. Burial at Worden Lutheran Cemetery.
