ANDREW P GUMBERT, 27
ANDREW P GUMBERT, 27, of Fort Wayne, was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on March 8, 2011 after an inspiring battle with cancer. Andy was an amazing husband, loving son, caring brother, wonderful uncle, respected colleague, and loyal friend.
He proudly served his country as a member of the 122nd in Fort Wayne and served in Iraq in 2007. Andy enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He made a difference in the lives of everyone he met.
Andy truly followed the Air Force Core Values “Integrity First, Service Before Self, & Excellence In All We Do.”
He will always be remembered by those who loved him for his sense of humor, patience, fortitude, and dedication to everything he was involved in.
Andy may be gone but will never be forgotten due to the incredible legacy he leaves behind.
Andy is survived by his wife, Missy, his two dogs Zeus and Athena, parents Ron and Diane Gumbert of Fort Wayne, brothers; Sean Gumbert of Florida, David Gumbert of Fort Wayne, two sisters; Neely (Eric) Bultemeier of Bluffton, Indiana, Kristen Gumbert of Fort Wayne (and her fiancé Patrick Milne of Chicago, Illinois); grandmother Kathleen Moses of Fort Wayne; nephew, Grant Bultemeier and niece Katelyn Bultemeier both of Bluffton.; In-laws Mike, Diane, Marci and Shellie Mickelini; aunt and uncle Dennis and Sharon Gumbert, and aunt Darlene Gumbert.
Andy was preceded in death by grandparents William C. Moses and Alfred and Mary Jane Gumbert.
Calling hours were Friday 2-4 & 6-8 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road. Memorial Service, Saturday 11am at the 122nd Fighter Wing Air National guard base, 3005 Ferguson Rd.
