October Calendar – 23rd – University of Scouting at IPFW. Join us for a fun filled Saturday and get trained!

ANNOUNCEMENT: Earl Kumfer has stepped down as District Commissioner to concentrate on his family and some new responsibilities at the University of St. Francis. For many years Earl has supported Miami District as District Commissioner. He has given countless hours to the support and training of our Unit Commissioners and helped many leaders in the support of their units. Earl has been a wonderful resource and leader for us all. We deeply appreciate his gifts to Scouting. Thank you Earl and a special thank you from Calvary United Methodist Church and all past and present adult members of Boy Scout Troop 38.

FALL RECRUITMENT: It’s that time of year again. Time to invite boys and girls to join the fun of Scouting:  Please do not hesitate to contact Sarah (260-432-9593) at any time for support at your Round-Up/Recruitment event.

YOUTH PROTECTION: It is now required for all registered leaders to be Youth Protection trained BEFORE they are registered! The completed certificate must accompany any new leader application. If you are already a leader and not currently trained in Youth Protection, it will be required to be included on your units’ charter in December. GET IT DONE NOW! Go to www.scouting.org and follow the directions. If you already have a ‘myScouting.org’ account you can do the training there. Get everyone on your charter trained in Youth Protection.

URGENT NOTICE: As of January 1, 2010, paper Tour Permits are no longer accepted at the Council Office, National is now paperless. Everything is Electronic. All Tour Permits (Local and National) are now to be filed electronically on-line which is available through www.awac.org. Other items that have gone Electronic are: Eagle Scout Applications, Eagle Scout Workbook, Unit Advancements, and Unit Re-chartering.

BOY SCOUT POPCORN SALE IS NOW ON – Please support our Boy Scouts by calling the Anthony Wayne Area Council and locating the nearest Boy Scout Troop or Cub Scout Pack nearest you to purchase the best popcorn money can buy. Help send a boy to camp.

Watch for a Scout to knock on your door and say,” Hi!  My name is (……). I am from Pack or Troop Number ( …….) sponsored by (……..) Church or (………). My (Troop or Pack) is selling popcorn to help me become a better leader and citizen.  Would you help me out please?”
