Joan Retha (Snyder) Klenke, 88
Joan Retha (Snyder) Klenke, 88, of Fort Wayne was called home by her Savior on Saturday December 1st. She was the eldest daughter of James and Alma (Vanhorn) Snyder. She graduated with the class of 1948 from Central High School. She worked for Fort Wayne Paint and Wallpaper Company, then Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. In 1991 she retired from the office of Dr. Gregory Stouder after twenty years of service. After a short retirement she worked for Lutheran Hospital in Telecommunications for twelve years, finally retiring from there in 2010. Joan was a member of Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1964. She volunteered at Mount Calvary Lutheran School as the secretary in the late 1960’s. She was elected as vice president and president of both the Parent Teacher League and the church’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was a faithful member of the choir for over forty years and served over thirty years on the Alter Guild. She also felt honored when she was elected as the first woman on the school board. She was a Cancer survivor for 11 years. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Charles W. Klenke Jr, three daughters; Dianne Diehl of Huntington, Patricia (John) Norris of Roanoke and Jennifer (Mark) Christlieb of Fort Wayne. Four grandchildren; Dawn (Scott) Anders of Huntington, Christopher (Angela) Diehl of Huntington, David (Kara) Roth of Fort Stewart, GA and James (Keitra Duff) Roth of Fort Wayne. The 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren were the loves of her life. She loved family celebrations with all the family and hope the family will carry her in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, her younger sister Leila Stiles, a son Richard Wayne and a grandson Andrew Richard Roth. Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 AM Friday December 7, 2018 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Drive, Fort Wayne, IN, with one hour calling before the service. Calling also Thursday December 6, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the church. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens at a later date. Preferred Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Visiting Nurse or Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center. Arrangements by D.O.
